My Personality Type: The Independent Thinker

Independent Thinkers are analytical and witty persons. They are normally self-confident and do not let themselves get worked up by conflicts and criticism. They are very much aware of their own strengths and have no doubts about their abilities. People of this personality type are often very successful in their career as they have both competence and purposefulness. Independent Thinkers are excellent strategists; logic, systematics and theoretical considerations are their world. They are eager for knowledge and always endeavour to expand and perfect their knowledge in any area which is interesting for them. Abstract thinking comes naturally to them; scientists and computer specialists are often of this type.

Independent Thinkers are specialists in their area. The development of their ideas and visions is important to them; they love being as flexible as possible and, ideally, of being able to work alone because they often find it a strain having to make their complex trains of thought understandable to other people. Independent Thinkers cannot stand routine. Once they consider an idea to be good it is difficult to make them give it up; they pursue the implementation of that idea obstinately and persistently, also in the face of external opposition.

Independent Thinkers are not the type who easily comes out of his shell. Speaking about their emotional life is also not one of their strong points. Anyway, social relationships are not particularly important to them; they are happy with just a few, close friends who find it easy to share their intellectual world. They find it difficult to establish new ties. In love, they need a lot of space and independence but this does not mean that their partner is not important to them. Independent Thinkers often make a cool and reserved impression on others; but this impression is deceptive: they can hardly bear it if people close to them should reject them. They prefer a harmonious, balanced relationship with a partner who shares their interests and with whom they can realise their visions.

Adjectives which describe your type: introverted, theoretical, logical, planning, rational, independent, intellectual, self-confident, analytical, structured, dogged, witty, resolute, self-critical, visionary, inventive, unsociable, reserved, nonconformist, quiet, honest, demanding, hardworking

LOL holy crap, pretty much everything in the relationship section describes me exactly. I'm starting counseling/therapy at school, but it obviously requires talking about feelings/emotions... and I'm not good at that. It's not proving to be easy, but I'm hoping it will help. I can't deal with my depression getting as bad as it was before break... and during break, if I'm being completely honest. At least now I'm on medication.

On to the story!Collapse )

It's all about me, didn't you know?

First off: new layout! Very pretty, yes?

Next: School.

I haven't really talked about this semester. Let's see:

- Geography is very easy. All I do is go to class and study for about an hour before I take tests. I got 100s on the first two tests and a 95 on the third. We don't have a final. The tests are each 30% of the final grade, and the last 10% is attendance. I'm getting an A.

- Government is going ok. I got a low A on the first test, and a high B on the second. The final for that class is on December 11 (which is a SATURDAY) at 7:30. IN THE MORNING. The university plans out the finals way way in advance of when they actually happen. That just so happens to be the time when my final is scheduled. I am not happy. I'm expecting a B or an A.

- Trig... the first two tests, I got high Bs (without a curve). The third one... I bombed. I missed a few classes, and I didn't get notes from someone before the test. Also, that test had proofs, which I can't really do. I've also been... not caring about homework. I've done at least some on all the assignments so far, and the average for those homeworks is probably a C, idk. Hoping I can pull off a B when all is said and done, but I wouldn't be surprised if I got a C.

- Organic Chem. Gag me. First test, I got a 90. I thought that would be setting the precedent for the rest of the semester. No such luck. Second test I got a 60. The third test was this past Thursday night, so I don't know what I got on it yet. I'm hoping it is better than the second, but we shall see. I'm just hoping to pass the fucking class.

- Organic Lab. I skipped two lab days (for my own sanity), and I acknowledge that I forfeit grades for those days. BUT. There are two days that I didn't get my lab notebook signed (and I didn't know we needed to), and apparently if my notebook isn't signed, they don't have proof I was there. Even though I did the quizzes both of those days, and turned in lab reports for those days. If I fail because of that, I'm going to be so fucking pissed off. My mom keeps telling me to talk to the department head or something, but it sounds like somebody high up in the department was the one who made the ruling about not getting credit for the days I didn't get it signed. So I'm not sure what to do. I looked through the syllabus and it doesn't say anything about needing to get it signed. Also, this is my first lab at Tech, and I didn't know we had to get it signed. Add to that, the first week, the TA came by and signed all of our notebooks, so I assumed that was the norm. TA tried to make me feel like an idiot by saying that I should have noticed everyone else coming up to get their notebooks signed. Um, too bad, asshole, that I was trying to finish my lab. Also, he said that there were times he didn't pass back my previous quizzes/lab reports, so I must have left early. The only times I've ever left before the lab was completely finished was when it was right at 2:00 and I had another class to be at. TA also told me that he can't remember me being there on certain days... he must a shit-tastic memory because he reprimands me at least twice during a lab day about putting my goggles back on (because they fog up so easily). I can't stand him. At least he grades pretty leniently. I'm hoping to pass. That's all I really care about.

So that is how classes are going this semester. Right now my major is microbiology, but earlier this semester I got a flyer about a program at the Health Sciences Center for a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science (working in a lab, analyzing specimens, etc). I went over one day to do a tour, and I also got to sit in on a class. The deadline to apply for next year is March, and I've started on my application. I hope hope hope I get in. It will still allow me to deal with microbiology (I can specialize in it), but it also gives some variety with other types of tests (not just streaking plates, etc). It's a job that's in demand and it pays fairly well. I'm still not sure if I'll be able to live on campus next year if I get into the program.

I'm leaving Monday morning after chemistry. I'm going to pack tomorrow, and then hit the road Monday morning after I get out of class and have some breakfast. I'm expecting to get out of Lubbock before noon, so that I'll get home before dark. I MISS MY CATS. There are tons of cats on campus. My aunt that lives here (and used to work at Tech) theorizes that college students who live off campus and have pets dump them on campus when they graduate/leave/etc. So basically, the animals are half-wild, and won't come anywhere near me. I feel like crying (and I have done so) because none of the cats will come near me. So I'm looking forward to getting home and seeing my cats. I haven't been home since Labor day! That's the longest stretch I've been away from home since we've had these cats. Hopefully they'll quit their skittishness around me fairly quickly.

I'm excited to see my family again, especially my aunt and uncle that live in New Mexico. :) They're flying into Austin on Tuesday night.

Long post is long. And full of bitching, lol

Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Long but accurate quiz!

Your result for The Golden Compass Daemon Test...

Shy Loving Soul

You are a sensitive and shy person. You want to be loved and liked, but you don't think people actually like you very much, and that hurts to think about. You like to be with your family and friends, who care about you. When you are with them, you can open up and talk and be yourself. Among strangers, however, you are nervous and tend to clam up. People are often surprised at how talkative you can be once they get to know you, because you appear to be so quiet and bland at first. You hide your feelings from people whom you do not know well, because you don't know if you can trust them. With your loved ones you can be more yourself.

Your feelings are easily hurt, and you tend to be easily embarassed. You are sensitive, and your loved ones may even tease you about being a little TOO sensitive at times. When your feelings are hurt, you don't always let on. You don't like confrontations, and you are not the sort of person to throw a melodramatic hissy fit. You just tend to fret over it for a few days, until eventually the misunderstanding is cleared up, or time heals the wound.

Your daemon would represent your shyness and sensitivity, and your love of family, and your tendency to hide your feelings from strangers. He or She would probably hide in your pocket or sit on your shoulder where he/she would whisper comfort into your ear.

Suggested forms:
Rabbit, Dormouse, Dik-dik, Sighthound

So, a total of 64, not counting movies I've only seen parts of. I guess I do have some semblance of a life? XD

Oh good grief.... XD

I was reading through some Trek stuff on TV Tropes, and I came across the page titled "Ho Yay", or "Homoeroticism, yay". And it referenced the "this simple feeling" line from TMP. The link it gave was a drabble written by Farfalla. The end of it made me groan.

"My love for you is like a repeating decimal--it continues.... forever."

Kirk broke into a grin. "Then I'm glad you don't think it's *irrational*!"
